Winterfest celebrates community with events and more, topping our list of things to do this weekend. Hamilton’s got music, theatre, sport and so much more to beat the winter blues. Environmen­t Canada is calling for a few flurries and daytime temperatur­es around -5 C Saturday and 2 C Sunday.

Here are several things happening around Hamilton this weekend.

Winterfest

Hamilton 2023 Winterfest is more than 60 events across the city until Feb. 20.

For the first time, the roof of Jackson Square will be transforme­d into the Winterfest Hub, with light installati­ons, murals and exhibits from Feb. 10 to 20.

Here’s a hit of what you can expect this weekend:

■ Free pancake breakfast on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. hosted by the North Central Community Associatio­n at the Eva Rothwell Centre, 460 Wentworth St. N. Use the front door.

■ Hamilton Hornets RGC present a free Try Rugby event on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wentworth Sports Complex, 2100 Main St. W. hamiltonru­gby.com

Seedy Saturday

Green Venture presents the 12th annual Seedy Saturday in-person event at the Hamilton Public Library, 55 York Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors, environmen­tal groups and local organizati­ons will be on hand helping promote sustainabl­e and local products and practices and share knowledge through workshops and presentati­ons. Celebrate gardening in Hamilton with a focus on sustainabl­e, local practices and products including; seed exchange, seed and garden supply vendors selling quality seeds with heritage and heirloom varieties, free garden workshops and educationa­l demonstrat­ions throughout the day, opportunit­ies for meeting and networking with other gardeners and experts and children’s activities. greenventu­re.ca/seedysatur­day

Risky Business night

First responders, including Brantford police, Brant provincial police, paramedics and firefighte­rs, are taking the plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario on Saturday with a polar plunge.
