Brown said the home was built in the mid-1850s by J.K. Griffin, the son of Ebenezer Griffin, who is considered to be the founder of the original village of Waterdown. J.K. Griffin later went on to help build Snake Road, which connected the community to Hamilton, she noted.

The main floor of the home features two separate living areas, a library with a rolling ladder, a formal dining area as well as a large kitchen with a centre island that opens up to a sunroom with oversized windows.

“It is just drenched in sunshine,” said Brown.

Upstairs, there are four large bedrooms — including the primary suite that has its own six-piece ensuite bathroom. There are also two other bathrooms and a studio space.

Brown said one of the biggest features of the property is the private backyard, which features landscaped gardens and a large inground pool with its own pool house surrounded by rolling terrain and mature trees.

Brown noted the house could be ideal for a couple or a young family, noting it’s “definitely an entertaine­r’s home.”

Why is it priced this way? Brown said the price of the home was influenced by the size and location of the lot as well as the improvemen­ts that have been made to the house.

“It’s been meticulous­ly maintained,” she added. “It’s a move-in ready heritage home.”
