The last time the NHL expanded was 2000. The idea of a digital trading card back then was perhaps as far-fetched as an NHL team in Las Vegas. How times have changed. The inventions of smart phones, mobile apps and wireless internet connectivity have made it possible for digital trading cards to be created and sold very quickly. On Nov. 22, the ownership group of the new Las Vegas NHL franchise unveiled the team’s name and logo. Shortly after, Topps created a digital trading card of the event, marking the first Vegas Golden Knights card.
