WHAT IT’S LIKE...
…to be named one of the NHL’s top 100 players of all-time
When I first got the call from Gary Bettman, I was pretty thrilled. It’s not every day you get a call like that. You look at the list of players, and to be named among those guys, it truly is an honor. These are guys I grew up idolizing, trying to skate out there like them and do the things that they do. So for me to be named amongst those guys is a pretty cool feeling. It just makes me want to play better.
I looked at all those guys growing up – everybody I talked to at the ceremony, Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg – every single day. Ray Bourque, Brian Leetch, Paul Coffey, I talked to all those guys at the event. I watched them every day and tried to emulate them.
