In the CARDS
WHILE NOT AS BIG as the WJC, the U-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament has grown into a popular prospect showcase. It has gone by different names, including the Mexico Cup in 1994. Canada won gold that year, and the 1994-95 Pinnacle Select set featured 20 players from that competition, including 17-year-old Jarome Iginla, who led scoring with five goals and nine points. Like many cards from that era, the card has a garish design, with gold-foil lettering, drop shadows, gradients, feathered edges and a serape (Mexican poncho/blanket) background pattern.
