The scouting report on William Karlsson through his development years was that he was a better playmaker than scorer. A year after Anaheim drafted him in the second round in 2011, Karlsson scored just four goals to go along with 24 assists in Sweden’s top league. But the crafty center always worked on his deceptively heavy shot with a quick release. In a storybook year for him and the Knights, Karlsson has been one of the league’s top goal scorers and more than doubled his career total of 18 goals in 183 games going into the season.
