Behind THE MASK

THERE ARE MANY BEAUTIFUL touches to discover on Sparks’ mask. The flashiest part of artist Sylvie Marsolais’ design: a mummy on the forehead, inspired by an image Sparks found in Toronto’s ‘Graffiti Alley.’ The back plate features the playoff logo for the AHL Calder Cup, which Sparks’ Marlies won in June, and a tribute to the late Parker Tobin, a Humboldt Broncos goalie who died in the horrific April 6 crash.
