Historical sexual assault charge

Northumber­land OPP Crime Unit has charged an individual in relation to a historical sexual offence.

The investigat­ion began on February 2, 2024, after the victim reported the incident to police.

The incident is reported to have occurred between 1972 and 1975 while the victim was in the care of a group home and placed to live in the care of the accused. The victim was under 14-yearsold at the time.

As a result of the investigat­ion, on May 6, 2024, Allan Kerr, 75, of the Municipali­ty of Trent Hills, was arrested and charged with sexual intercours­e with a female under 14 years of age.

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

There is no statute of limitation­s on sexual offences and a report can be made to police at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
