Remembrance Day Parade. Council has approved the Royal Canadian Legion’s request to hold a Remembrance Day parade on November 11. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and go from the Town parking lot behind the Legion, down 50th Street to 4th Avenue, west on 4th Avenue to 51st Street, North on 51st Streetpast the cenotaph and into the Legion parking lot.
ATCO Franchise Fee. Council has agreed, under the current franchise fee agreement with ATCO, to keep the rates at the current 20 per cent. The franchise fee is collected from customers in the community based on apercentage of ATCO’s delivery tariff. The percentage has not changed since the franchise fee agreement was renewed in 2006, and should bring in about $475,000 in revenue for the Town
in 2016.
FortisAlberta Franchise Fee. Council has agreed, under the current franchise fee agreement with FortisAlberta, to keep the rates at the current 5 per cent. Based on the current rate it should bring in about $375,000 in revenue for the Town in 2016.
Subdivision Extension. Council has granted an extension to a subdivision application at 472 72nd Street for an additional year. The application will now expire October 15, 2016.
Council has also granted an extension to a subdivision application at 795 Glenwood Drive for an additional year. The application will now expire December 17, 2016.
Development Application. Council has approved a development application for a lot on the north edge of Hillendale Phase II. This development is a planned duplex with unique roof lines and a “drive down” garage. The application was approved subject to conditions outlined by the Development Officer.
The next Council Meeting is scheduled for October 27th at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building.
