Through a mother’s eyes

- Alexandria Block

Well I’m not really sure where the time goes but it’s almost one of my favourite holidays.

Halloween.

Ever since I was a little girl I was always dressing up.

I remember my mum would make us all homemade costumes out of nothing staying up in the middle of the night for the school party every year. Nothing says I love you more than a homemade costume.

And I hope to do the same for my son.

As he grows up I get more excited about holidays. He is a year and a half this Halloween and though we went trick or treating last year. It will be more exciting this year.

My mum would always put together a party at the house for us growing up. With homemade punch with floating eyes, biscuit green finger cookies and spider cupcakes. It’s those memories that stuck with me and made me who I am today. I am so terribly grateful for my childhood. It’s given me the foundation I need to succeed and I plan to pass the same love on to my own.

I wish I saw more of the same today.

But nowadays. Most kids are surrounded with new and shiny.

As kids we didn’t need much. Love and a full tummy and we were happy.

Why not stop by the thrift store this year to grab what you need for a costume. A costume doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg.

I hope that the weather holds out until Halloween. Otherwise most costumes are hidden under winter coats.

I can’t wait to see what creatures come to my door this year.

Keep safe and visible and most importantly. Have fun!

It’s those memories that stuck with me and made me who I am today. I am so terribly grateful for my childhood.”
