Special to the Post

Thirteen talented ladies from Peers and the surrounding areas including as far away as Spruce Grove participated in Peers Area Community Group’s (PACG) first UFO Quilt Retreat in the new Peers Multiplex.

The ladies were wowed by wonderful displays, good food and a superbly spacious and comfortable area to quilt. A few took advantage of the phenomenal lighting in the facility and quilted well into the wee hours of the morning.

This enjoyable weekend is attributed to the hard work of its organizers Tammy Redlick, Josie Gunner and Patricia Millard and their many supporters throughout Yellowhead, Parkland and Woodlands Counties. According to Patricia Millard, “The response was magnificent and we thank them all. The event set the stage to unveil the Gold Dust Daze ‘Community Spirit Quilt’ which was made to mark our 40th Annual Gold Dust Daze.”

Tickets are now on sale. The quilt will be raffled August 1 2016 following the Gold Dust Daze festivities over the August long weekend.

Tammy Redlick adds, “Watch, as we plan to host another one and hope to see even more faces.” The date for the next retreat is tentatively set for fall 2016, on October 21 and 22. We want to include some youth wanting to learn the Art of Quilting, according to Josie Gunner. There is no doubt they would benefit greatly from the wealth of talent and experience found at the event.
