Special to the Post

The Town of Whitecourt will be launching the 2017 Citizen Budget Survey on Monday, August 29. The new in-teractive budget simulator will allow residents to provide feedback on how they feel their tax dollars should be spent. The launch of the survey builds on public consultation activities initiated for the 2016 budget.

“Engagement and transparency are a priority for Council, and I’m eager to hear feedback from the community,” said Mayor Chichak. “Whitecourt is growing, and we want to make sure we continue to meet the needs and expectations of our residents. I encourage all residents to participate in the online survey and provide their input for the 2017 budget .”

Residents can find a link to the survey on www. whitecourt.ca. All you have to do is enter in the assessment for your residential property to see how much you currently pay for a variety of municipal services. Residents can then increase, decrease or maintain service levels in a variety of service categories and immediately see the impact changes have on their personal tax payments. The survey will run for three weeks, and will close on Friday, September 16. Feedback gathered through the survey will be presented to Council for review and consideration during 2017 budget deliberations in the fall.
