Jasper RCMP investigat­es drug traffickin­g – Search executed and two arrested

On Aug. 18, 2016, Jasper RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in Jasper. As a result, a significan­t amount of drugs as well as various drug parapherna­lia were seized.

During the execution of the search warrant, approximat­ely $18,000 cash was seized as well as the following controlled substances:

• 1,600 grams of cannabis marihuana

• 1,100 grams of cannabis resin

• 300 grams of psilocybin (commonly referred to as magic mushrooms)

• 130 grams of cocaine

• 20 grams of methamphet­amine (MDMA)

Robert Douglas Kelly, 30-yearsold and Bianka Kylie Loria, 30-yearsold, have each been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of MDMA for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of cannabis marihuana for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of cannabis resin for the purpose of traffickin­g, possession of psilocybin for the purpose of traffickin­g and possession of proceeds of crime over $5000.00.

They have both been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Jasper Provincial Court on Sept. 18, 2016.

Those that traffic in illicit drugs destroy lives, homes, and communitie­s. The RCMP remains fully committed in building “safe communitie­s” and enforcing laws to their fullest extent, in order to achieve this goal. Members of the public who suspect drug activity in their community are encouraged to contact their local RCMP detachment.
