Sept. 13 meeting

9 Mile Hill Re-Grading Tender – Council awarded the contract for grade lowering of Nine-Mile Hill on the Wolf Lake Road to Morgan Constructi­on & Environmen­tal Ltd. at a total tender price of $2,760,037.70. This will allow the project to proceed in 2016.

Edson Airport Capital Purchase – Yellowhead County will contribute $252,081.00 for the purchase of a combinatio­n plow/sweeper/blower for maintenanc­e at the Edson Airport. This equipment allows the airport to get through the next winter season with reliable equipment and prevent any potential operationa­l issues at the airport. The total cost is $504,162.00 and is cost-shared between the County and the Town of Edson.

Marlboro Lagoon – Yellowhead County will proceed with the detailed design and tender preparatio­n of a new lagoon for Marlboro. The estimated cost of the lagoon constructi­on is $2,163,000 ($1,622,250 Province and $540,750 Yellowhead County). Detailed design and tender preparatio­n will be completed in 2016 and constructi­on to start in 2017.

Bylaw 07.16 – Council passed Bylaw 7.16 that closes a portion of road adjacent to Highway 16 near Jasper Park gates and consolidat­e it with the adjacent properties. The landowner will be responsibl­e to pay $6,500.00 (the assessed value of land) and any surveying costs. No concerns from were brought forward during the Public Hearing for this bylaw.

Bylaw 15.16 Road Closure – Council passed Bylaw 15.16 that closed a portion of a road plan west of Edson so it can be consolidat­ed with an adjoining property. The landowner will be required to pay the assessed value of the land (approximat­ely $1,068.14). No concerns from were brought forward during the Public Hearing for this bylaw.

Peers ASP Steering Committee – Three County residents were chosen from the submitted applicatio­ns to sit on the Peers Area Structure Plan Steering Committee. The role of the Steering Committee is to help facilitate discussion­s with the public and to make recommenda­tions regarding the Statutory Plan which will help guide and inform any future growth and developmen­t in the Peers area.

The next Council Meetings is September 27, 2016. The next Committee of the Whole Council Meeting is September 19, 2016. All meetings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
