Don’t miss out on this beginner’s workshop geared towards small flock owners

“Dr. Frank Robinson, a poultry production professor for the University of Alberta has been invited to give residents some important informatio­n they will need to know when it comes to raising chickens,” says Yellowhead County’s agricultur­al services coordinato­r Melissa Marquis. “Dr. Robinson has 40 years of experience with general poultry husbandry, and will be a great resource for everyone who attends.”

Joining Dr. Robinson will be a graduate of the University of Alberta, Rachelle Davidson. Rachelle will do two short talks on Poultry behavior and biosecurit­y for small flocks. Dr. Robinson will be covering chicken anatomy; where eggs come from, chicken feeds and feeding, and poultry housing for small flocks. There will be time at the end of the workshop for questions and one-on-one discussion­s. This workshop is intended for residents who own a small flock or are thinking of raising chickens. Aspects of owning a large flock for commercial production will not be covered at this event.

The event is being hosted at the Peers Multiplex on Wednesday October 19, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Snacks and refreshmen­ts will be provided. The cost to attend this event is $5.00 per person and must be paid before the registrati­on deadline of October 13, 2016.
