Raising chickens in Yellowhead County 101
Don’t miss out on this beginner’s workshop geared towards small flock owners
“Dr. Frank Robinson, a poultry production professor for the University of Alberta has been invited to give residents some important information they will need to know when it comes to raising chickens,” says Yellowhead County’s agricultural services coordinator Melissa Marquis. “Dr. Robinson has 40 years of experience with general poultry husbandry, and will be a great resource for everyone who attends.”
Joining Dr. Robinson will be a graduate of the University of Alberta, Rachelle Davidson. Rachelle will do two short talks on Poultry behavior and biosecurity for small flocks. Dr. Robinson will be covering chicken anatomy; where eggs come from, chicken feeds and feeding, and poultry housing for small flocks. There will be time at the end of the workshop for questions and one-on-one discussions. This workshop is intended for residents who own a small flock or are thinking of raising chickens. Aspects of owning a large flock for commercial production will not be covered at this event.
