Evansburg Library grand re-opening
It is with great excitement that on behalf of Yellowhead County Library Board, I am able to announce the completion of the long awaited separate entrance at Evansburg Public Library. This day has been a long time in the works. Discussion surrounding the need for easier access to the library began back in 2007. For the last decade it has been included as part of YCLB’s plan of service. Finally this goal has been reached and I am honoured to have been able to be part of this accomplishment.
As part of YCLB, as well as the county councillor for the area, Sandra Cherniawsky has always felt that a separate entrance for the library would make a positive impact on the community as a whole. That it would make the library more attractive to the residents and positively influence the overall library experience in Evansburg.
But there is more. We did not stop with the separate entrance! The library now features a new washroom for patrons, brand new shelving and circulation desk, and a complete space redesign. All these changes combine to give the Evansburg Public Library a more modern feel. However these changes could not have occurred without the help of many people.
Thank you to YCLB for making this vision a reality and to Yellowhead County for all their continuous support. Thank you Mayor Gerald Soroka and councillors for understanding how important improving library service is within our community. It was wonderful that Mayor Soroka, Councillor Cherniawsky and the entire YCLB could be part of the official ribbon cutting.
Thank you to GTHS Principal Michael Podhaniuk and GYPSD’s Ken Baluch for overseeing the renovations and keeping things on track. A special thanks to Stephanie Thero from Yellowhead Regional Library for her great redesign ideas and space planning expertise. Finally, thank you to the staff of vital property services for helping us put it all back together after the renovation.
Most of all thank you to the residents of Evansburg and area for your enthusiasm and patience during this long awaited process. We hope these changes make your library a more welcoming space and enhance your library experience for years to come.
