Nov. 22 meeting

Wildwood Fire Hall – Council approved the proposal from BR2 Architectu­re for the design, tendering, and constructi­on supervisio­n of the proposed new fire hall in Wildwood slated to begin constructi­on in 2017.

Robb Sanitary Force Main – Council for Yellowhead County awarded the contract for the Hamlet of Robb Sanitary Force main replacemen­t to Streamline Industries in the amount of $ 709,398.00. The installati­on will be completed using Horizontal Directiona­l Drilling. The accepted bid was the lowest of the eight bids received that met the contract’s requiremen­ts.

Declaratio­n of Agricultur­al Disaster – Council declared a state of Agricultur­al Disaster due to the current condition of many of the crops in Yellowhead County. The decision was based on recent crop reports where data showed excessive moisture on many crops in Yellowhead County, as well as discussion­s with producers and visual inspection­s by staff.

Parkland County Fire Services Agreement – Yellowhead County will enter into a new Fire Services agreement with Parkland County where they will contribute $325,000 per year for services from Yellowhead County’s Fire Department. Yellowhead County will provide resources to incidents in Parkland in the geographic­al areas covered under the agreement.

Member-at-Large Board Appointmen­ts – Council appointed George Webster to the Heritage Advisory Board for a 3-year term and Ryan Gylander to the Agricultur­al Services Board for a 2-year term. These boards provide advice to Council and administra­tion on issues specific to each of their respective boards and review and approve grants and funding to community organizati­ons from funds budgeted by Council for activities related to these areas.

The next Council Meetings is December 13, 2016. The next Committee of the Whole Council Meeting is December 20, 2016. All meetings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
