The Community Clean Up Program policy has been amended to include an age restriction for those participating in litter clean up projects. The program, which is advertised annually, provides $1,000 to community groups who are approved to perform 100 hours of clean up service. The policy now requires all participants to be at least 9 years of age. Council has denied a request to consider waiving fees for Wellspring Family Resource & Crisis Centre. Wellspring requested that the municipal fees for the construction and placement of a shed at 5116 51 Avenue be waived due to the fact that the organization is a charity. Past practice for charities and other non-profit groups in Whitecourt has been for those agencies to pay all required permit fees.
