Regional Waste Management Budget – Council formally adopted the West Yellowhead Regional Waste Management Authority’s 2017 Capital & Operating budgets. Yellowhead County, the Town of Edson, the Town of Hinton, and the Town of Jasper make up the regional authority.

Road Priority Map & 5 Year Road Reconstruction Plan – Council formally adopted the County’s Connectivity/Collector Road Priority Map and the Five-Year Road Reconstruction Plan. This will allow Yellowhead County to move ahead with the planning of these road projects. These construction projects have been identified as the top priorities for County roads.

Property Assessment Exemption Status – Eleven non-profit organizations received property assessment exemptions until 2019. These eleven organizations have met the Municipal Government Act requirements that allows their assessment to be exempt from taxation in Yellowhead County.

Tervita Landfill Expansion – Council defeated Bylaw 18.16 following Tervita Corporation’s application for the rezoning required for their proposed industrial landfill expansion near Carrot Creek Tower Road. A Public Hearing was held on February 14, 2017 and gave Council the opportunity to hear from both sides of the proposed landfill expansion prior to making a decision whether or not to change the zoning of the property from Rural District to Rural Industrial District.
