“Why?” campaign to be launched by ACES

-

The Arts Centre for Edson Society (ACES) is a group of Town of Edson and Yellowhead County citizens who have come together to advocate for the arts and culture community of Edson and area; and to develop a new cultural multiuse facility for the community. Arts and Culture has been proven to be a key pillar to improving the quality of life and well-being of citizens.

The group will be launching the “Why?” campaign soon to highlight why the Edson Region needs a new performing arts venue. The Campaign will feature video vignettes which will be distributed via social media. The vignettes include interviews and information regarding current facilities and why there is a need for a new venue in Edson.

“ACES has done years of research, developed drawings, a business plan and advocated for a new facility in Edson since 2007. Unfortunately despite the hundreds of volunteer hours by the citizens of Edson & Yellowhead County we have seen little progress on a new facility, especially over the course of the last 3 to 4 years. This is why we are launching the ‘Why?’ campaign,” said ACES President Peter Taylor.

ACES has long stated that they are willing to look at any option and work with other groups in order to address the needs of our active and diverse arts community. This could include a new build or a renovation to an existing building.

“With the upcoming municipal election, we encourage residents to ask candidates in both the Town and County about their stance on a new facility and vote for arts and culture,” said Peter Taylor.

ACES is proud to see so many theatrical events selling out in the community such as Chautauqua shows, Parkland’s Singin’ in the Rain, HRH’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Pine Grove’s Alice in Wonderland. Upcoming shows include HRH’s Dessert Theatre, Parkland & Pine Grove’s Dessert Theatre, Pandora Players’ In On It, and the remaining Chautauqua performances.
