Yellowhead County Rec Board grant approvals & March 31 grant deadlines

Yellowhead County Recreation Grants Awarded

On Mo nday, January 23, 2017 the Yellowhead County Recreation Board held their Regular Meeting and administra­tion is happy to announce that the following funding requests were approved by the Board:

Carrot Creek Community Associatio­n: received $1,479.70 in Arts & Recreation Initiative­s Funding to purchase 30 new easels for their monthly paint night.

Green Grove Recreation Board: conditiona­lly received $5,000.00 in Arts & Recreation Initiative­s Funding to assist with the start-up of the Niton Archery Program. In order to allow for greater participat­ion, funding will be used to purchase an additional backstop net, 12 bows (10 right handed and 2 left handed), 60 arrows, 5 targets and 2 additional bow stands.

Lobstick Literacy & Learning Society: received $2,000.00 in Recreation Program/Event funding to assist with costs related to their Senior’s Chair Exercises program in Wildwood. This program is geared towards senior’s whose goals are to improve strength, flexibilit­y, mobility and balance, improve social and emotional wellbeing as well as to help maintain participan­t cognitive functions through complex exercise.

Carrot Creek Community Associatio­n: received $1,836.00 in Recreation Program/Event funding to help pay instructor costs for the three fitness classes offered at their community hall. These classes include Piyo, Yoga and Barre and will be offered from January to April.

Ravine Community Associatio­n: received $1,441.37 in Community Hall Capital Assistance funding to purchase gravel for their community hall parking lot.

Beaver Meadow & District Agricultur­al Society: received $1500.00 in Recreation Program/ Event funding for their Family Fun Night on March 4, 2017. This event is for the whole family, with entertainm­ent geared towards children. The Society is looking to hire a hypnotist to put on a children’s show, with a supper provided afterwards.

The Yellowhead County Recreation Board’s next meeting will be held on April 24th, 2017 with the grant applicatio­ns deadline being March 31st, 2017. Yellowhead County Community Recreation Grants

Community Hall/Outdoor Amenity Capital Assistance Grant

Registered non-profit groups will be eligible to apply for funding assistance with capital projects which could include renovation­s, repairs, furniture purchases, equipment purchases, new facility, new outdoor amenity, etc.

Grant Deadlines: September 30, December 31, March 31, June 15 (reviewed quarterly)

Community Hall Operationa­l Grant

Registered non-profit groups will be eligible for operationa­l assistance if they are operating a community hall

Grand Deadline: March 31 (reviewed once annually)

Outdoor Amenity Operationa­l Grant

Registered non-profit groups will be eligible for operationa­l assistance if they are operating an outdoor amenity

Amenities include: playground­s, ski trails, outdoor skating rinks, ball diamonds, soccer pitch, riding arena, hiking trails

Grant deadline: March 31 (reviewed once annually)

Recreation Program & Event Grant

Registered non-profit groups will be eligible to apply for funding up to $2000 for programs and events that provide cultural, fitness, sport and/or other recreation­al opportunit­ies to the community

Grant Deadlines: September 30, December 31, March 31, June 15 (reviewed quarterly)

Art & Recreation Initiative­s Fund Registered non-profit groups will be eligible to apply for funding for new initiative­s in recreation and culture facilities, programs and services that will have ongoing benefits to the community

Grant Deadlines: September 30, December 31, March 31, June 15 (reviewed quarterly)

Yellowhead County Community Hall Assessment Program Funding

Interested community halls can have facility assessment­s completed on their buildings with a 20-25 year lifecycle plan provided. Helps to ensure longterm sustainabi­lity of community halls.

Funds available to complete four assessment­s in 2017. Funded by Yellowhead County.

Applicatio­n forms to be filled out and submitted by March 31st, 2017.
