Holy Redeemer win GYAC Badminton Banner

The Holy Redeemer Junior Badminton Team had a very successful GYAC Tournament in Hinton on May 5th as they won the banner for the event.

“All of our athletes played very well,” says Head Coach Julie Pullaw. “And the result was a very successful day of badminton for our school.”

In total there were five gold medal performanc­es on the day. This included grade 9 students Devin Moore and Tyler Ahlefeldt in the senior boys category, grade 8 students Ashton Melnyk and Will Yacke in the intermedia­te boys category, grade 7 students Jack Moore and Landon Smith in the junior boys category, and grade 7 students Ashley Byers and Halle Schutz in the junior girls category.

The school also won two silver medals courtesy of grade 7 students Riley Ahlefeldt and Levi Beckmann in the junior boys category and grade 7 student Walker Van Dyk in the junior singles category.

There were also three bronze medals from the HRH team from grade 8 students Evleen Jumaga and Ashley Bischke in the intermedia­te girls category, grade 9 students Landon Schutz and Anika Parslow in the senior mixed doubles category, and grade 9 student Damon Byers in the senior singles category.

Overall it was a very successful day and the school looks forward to seeing another banner added to the wall the gymnasium.
