Softwood Lumber Dispute – Council will send a letter of support for Canadian softwood lumber producers to Mr. Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, in regards to the softwood lumber dispute between Canada and the U.S. The harvesting and production of softwood lumber is an important industry within Yellowhead County and has a significan­t impact on the local economy and is a major employer in the area.

Wildwood Truckfill Station Constructi­on – The tender for the Wildwood Truckfill Station (potable water supply) was awarded to Vector Electric in the amount of $169,447.00 and will allow the project to proceed in 2017.

Mechanical Street Sweeper Purchase – Council approved the purchase of a Global M4HSD from Raymax Equipment Sales in the amount of $327,814.93. The new mechanical street sweeper will replace the current towable trailer and skid steer mounted brooms and will increase efficiency and reduce materials left in the ditches.

First Reading for Rezoning – First reading was given to Bylaw 07.17 for a property east of Edson (Part of the NW 19-5316-W5M) that would redistrict it from Rural District to Country Residentia­l District zoning and allow for a five-acre subdivisio­n to be separated from the current 70 acre parcel. A Public Hearing will be held on June 13, 2017.
