Oct. 31 meeting

Yellowhead County Council Sworn-In – The new Yellowhead County council, which includes Sandra Cherniawsk­y, Anthony Giezen, Penny Lowe, David Russell, Shawn Berry, Wade P. Williams, Dawn Mitchell, Lavone Olson, and Gerald Soroka (mayor), was officiated by the swearing of oaths.

Anthony Giezen Nominated Deputy Mayor – Council approved the nomination of Division 2, Wildwood and Area Councillor Anthony Giezen as Deputy Mayor. This is Councillor Giezen’s second term on council, and his first as Deputy Mayor.

Members of Yellowhead County Boards/Committees Appointed – Council concluded the appointmen­t of public members to various county boards and committees. The final list is as follows:

 Heritage Advisory Board: Jack Williams.

 Family and Community Services Board: Breanna Pudlo, Jane Henry.

 Agricultur­al Services Board: Robert Mitchell.

 Parks and Recreation Board: Christina Bowman, Sheila Easson, Todd Hockett.

 Subdivisio­n and Developmen­t Appeal Board: Martino Verhaeghe, Boguslawa Pomerenke, Nina Kencis, and Robert Mitchell.

 Library Board: Susan Otway, Sheena Melin.

Regular Council Meeting Dates Adopted – Council agreed to hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, or as amended from time to time, at 9:30 AM in the Council Chambers located in the Yellowhead County Administra­tion Building in Edson, Alberta.

Committee of the Whole (COW) Meetings Retitled – Council approved the renaming of their monthly Committee of the Whole meeting to Governance and Priorities Committee— these meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 9:30 AM in the Council Chambers located in the Yellowhead County Administra­tion Building in Edson, Alberta.

Bridge Constructi­on Tender Awarded – Council awarded the 2017 Bridge Maintenanc­e and Other Work contract to Bridgemen Services Ltd. in the amount of $597,502.50. The contract covers repairs to seven county bridges.

First Reading to Land Use Bylaw Amendment – Council gave first reading to Bylaw 14.17, amending Land Use Bylaw 16.13 from Rural District to Country Residentia­l Limited District. Council forwarded the Bylaw to a Public Hearing on the 28th of November, 2017.

The next Council Meetings are November 28 & December 12, 2017. The next Governance and Priorities Committee Meetings (formerly known as Committee of the Whole) are on November 21 & December 19, 2017. All meetings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
