Oct. 31 meet­ing

Yellowhead County Coun­cil Sworn-In – The new Yellowhead County coun­cil, which in­cludes San­dra Ch­er­ni­awsky, An­thony Giezen, Penny Lowe, David Rus­sell, Shawn Berry, Wade P. Wil­liams, Dawn Mitchell, Lavone Ol­son, and Ger­ald Soroka (mayor), was of­fi­ci­ated by the swear­ing of oaths.

An­thony Giezen Nom­i­nated Deputy Mayor – Coun­cil ap­proved the nom­i­na­tion of Di­vi­sion 2, Wild­wood and Area Coun­cil­lor An­thony Giezen as Deputy Mayor. This is Coun­cil­lor Giezen’s sec­ond term on coun­cil, and his first as Deputy Mayor.

Mem­bers of Yellowhead County Boards/Com­mit­tees Ap­pointed – Coun­cil con­cluded the ap­point­ment of pub­lic mem­bers to var­i­ous county boards and com­mit­tees. The fi­nal list is as fol­lows:

 Her­itage Ad­vi­sory Board: Jack Wil­liams.

 Fam­ily and Com­mu­nity Ser­vices Board: Bre­anna Pudlo, Jane Henry.

 Agricultural Ser­vices Board: Robert Mitchell.

 Parks and Recre­ation Board: Christina Bow­man, Sheila Eas­son, Todd Hock­ett.

 Sub­di­vi­sion and De­vel­op­ment Ap­peal Board: Martino Ver­haeghe, Bo­gus­lawa Pomerenke, Nina Ken­cis, and Robert Mitchell.

 Li­brary Board: Su­san Ot­way, Sheena Melin.

Reg­u­lar Coun­cil Meet­ing Dates Adopted – Coun­cil agreed to hold reg­u­lar meet­ings on the sec­ond and fourth Tues­day of each month, or as amended from time to time, at 9:30 AM in the Coun­cil Cham­bers lo­cated in the Yellowhead County Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing in Ed­son, Al­berta.

Com­mit­tee of the Whole (COW) Meet­ings Reti­tled – Coun­cil ap­proved the re­nam­ing of their monthly Com­mit­tee of the Whole meet­ing to Gov­er­nance and Pri­or­i­ties Com­mit­tee— these meet­ings will be held on the third Tues­day of each month at 9:30 AM in the Coun­cil Cham­bers lo­cated in the Yellowhead County Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing in Ed­son, Al­berta.

Bridge Con­struc­tion Ten­der Awarded – Coun­cil awarded the 2017 Bridge Main­te­nance and Other Work con­tract to Bridge­men Ser­vices Ltd. in the amount of $597,502.50. The con­tract cov­ers re­pairs to seven county bridges.

First Read­ing to Land Use By­law Amend­ment – Coun­cil gave first read­ing to By­law 14.17, amend­ing Land Use By­law 16.13 from Ru­ral Dis­trict to Coun­try Res­i­den­tial Limited Dis­trict. Coun­cil for­warded the By­law to a Pub­lic Hear­ing on the 28th of Novem­ber, 2017.

The next Coun­cil Meet­ings are Novem­ber 28 & De­cem­ber 12, 2017. The next Gov­er­nance and Pri­or­i­ties Com­mit­tee Meet­ings (for­merly known as Com­mit­tee of the Whole) are on Novem­ber 21 & De­cem­ber 19, 2017. All meet­ings start at 9:30 a.m. in the Coun­cil Cham­bers.
