Sup­ports for Stu­dents

Fa­cil­ity Ser­vices pro­vided their reg­u­lar up­date to the board on the cur­rent cap­i­tal project in the di­vi­sion: the new re­place­ment school in Ed­son, Mary Berg­eron Ele­men­tary. The gym­na­sium has been com­pleted and was turned over to an ex­cited school to use the week of Oc­to­ber 23. Last minute fin­ish­ing work con­tin­ues in the learn­ing com­mons with paint­ing, floor­ing and mill­work over the next cou­ple of weeks. The old A.H. Dakin School has been de­mol­ished, and the re­moval and cleanup of the site to pre­pare for the new bus lane con­tin­ues de­pen­dent on weather con­di­tions.

The board ap­proved Trus­tees Ca­puto, Rosa­diuk and Za­porosky to at­tend the Na­tional School Boards’ As­so­ci­a­tion an­nual con­fer­ence in San An­to­nio, Texas on April 7-9, 2018. Chair Rosa­diuk noted “This con­fer­ence is an ex­cel­lent pro­fes­sional de­vel­op­ment for trus­tees to learn more about global news in re­gards to pub­lic ed­u­ca­tion, and re­ceive in­for­ma­tion about new re­sources and tools to help move our di­vi­sion for­ward.”

Dale Karpluk, trustee from Jasper, gave an up­date from her re­cent at­ten­dance at a Zone 2/3 meet­ing at the Al­berta School Boards’ As­so­ci­a­tion.

Trustee Shirley Ca­puto from Hin­ton has ap­plied to be one of two trus­tees cho­sen from the province to be part of the Al­berta School Boards’ In­sur­ance Ex­change ad­vi­sory board.
