GYPSD Welcomes a New Transportation Director

-

Grande Yellowhead welcomes Corey Halabi as the division’s new Director of Transportation Services, effective Monday, November 27. Along with his management diploma from NAIT, Corey’s history of strong leadership and high levels of customer satisfaction gave him the solid background of skills that Superintendent Lewis and the board were looking for in a new director.

“It was very important to have a certain skill set for our Director of Transportation Services as this position holds a great deal of trust for our families,” noted Superintendent Lewis. “We have excellent staff in our transportation department and our drivers are second to none. Our focus continues to be on improving communications with our stakeholders to ensure that we are hearing their transportation needs and meeting their expectations to the best of our ability.”

Although Corey and his wife will be relocating to Edson from Edmonton, he is no stranger to the division being a proud graduate of Grand Trunk High School in Evansburg. The transition from riding a school bus on a daily basis for several years, to planning their routes is something he is looking forward to. “I am excited to be coming back to the division in my new role. One of my first priorities will be to familiarize myself with each of the communities within the division as families in Edson will have specific bussing needs that may be different than families in Hinton. My goals for the transportation department are to deliver effective solutions while consistently providing excellent customer service.”

Corey also hopes to continue his passions for community service in Edson. He was a ‘big brother’ in Edmonton and coached youth hockey and soccer teams. He also has an active interest in local politics: he was the deputy returning officer and presiding deputy in the 2013 and 2017 Edmonton municipal elections.
