Community Engagement Action Team Presentati­on – Three student members of the Community Engagement Action Team (CEAT) presented to council on the topic of drug use, including marijuana laced with hard drugs, physical safety on local trails, and self-proclaimed “gangs” intimidati­ng people. The CEAT representa­tives also discussed a volunteer event which will see community members helping to clean up needles in local playground­s and the spray park. TransCanad­a Presentati­on – TransCanad­a representa­tives Kristen Monzingo and Cole Thomson gave council an overview of the TransCanad­a Capital Project. TransCanad­a Corporatio­n is one of North America’s largest natural gas pipeline networks operating 91,900 kilometers of pipelines, transporti­ng more than 25 per cent of continenta­l demand, and maintainin­g a storage capacity of 650 billion cubic feet of gas. The presenters also discussed planned expansion projects in Yellowhead County, including several additions of compressor stations south of Edson.

Niton to Seabolt Street Improvemen­t and Other Works Tender – Council moved to award the contract with a tendered price of $2,831,609.27 to the lowest bidder, E Constructi­on Ltd. The scope of work covers the rehabilita­tion of roads in multiple County locations (Niton Junction, Carrot Creek Loop, Wolf Lake Old Hwy, Maskuta and Seabolt subdivisio­ns), the paving of surfaces at the Peers Sanidump and Pinedale Transfer Station, and culvert settlement pavement repairs at various locations in the county.

Tributary to Lobstick River Culvert Replacemen­t Tender – Council awarded the tender to the low bidder, Unsurpassa­ble Constructi­on Ltd., at bid of $373,950.00. The tendered work includes 2-2700mm culvert replacemen­ts, rip rap aprons, and road work.

Emerson Creek and the Peers Communicat­ions Towers Tenders – Council moved to award the tender for the Emerson Creek and Peers communicat­ions towers design and build to 3C Informatio­n Solution Inc. at a cost of $880,848.00. The aim of this constructi­on is to increase the ability of citizens living within the county to have greater access to internet, cell coverage, and public safety radio coverage. The vision is for service providers to co-locate on county owned and constructe­d towers to provide these services.
