How to maintain our own healthy energy fields

- Gwen Randall-Young

The human body is an energy system. A such, it can be influenced by the energy fields around it. We know that some kinds of energy can be harmful, which is why we are careful with radiation during x-rays, and vigilant about how close power lines are to populated areas. We may not often think about more subtle energy influences. Individuals and organizations have an energy about them, and sometimes we are negatively affected. You may find after spending time with some people that you feel drained and tired, while others leave you feeling energized. If you walk into business offices, you can get a sense of the energy immediately: it may be warm and welcoming, or cool and intimidating. In schools, there are so many people that one is constantly surrounded with a complex mix of many energies. Often, we cannot avoid people and situations which might put us off balance. What can we do to maintain our own healthy energy fields? You can think of yourself as a rechargeable battery. If you do not recharge ✓egularly, you will be drained. Surrounding yourself with good energy is a start. Being with positive people is helpful, so long as you do not spend time talking about others who are not. Spending time in nature is an excellent way to recharge, as is listening to calming music. Being near water, if only in the bath is very good. Natural light is a powerful energizer. Taking time for silence, meditating, and tuning into your heart are both soothing and empowering. These activities will bring balance to your life and help you to avoid a personal 'energy crisis.' ƒ
