Cross patch

This hot weather does nothing for tempers, I’ve read that more murders and physical attacks happen during hot weather, than any other time.

When I was younger and living with my parents I remember my father would become unhinged during the hot weather events. My mother and I would tip-toe around him trying not invoke his rage, which would only work for so long before he would erupt and have a melt-down. We would have to try to calm him down by trying to placate him with things in order to survive the heat wave and get through it. It wasn’t always successful and there was a lot of heart ache and crying to be done during those times.

In our own household tempers can sometimes fray and we have spats like anyone else, mostly it’s the kids that argue not my husband and I, we are well suited together and after over 36 years we haven’t killed one another. We’ve had a few tussles but nothing major thank goodness. There have been times when the boys were trying to take lumps out of one another and we’ve had to sit them down and work it out together. This also was in the hottest months of the year.

This year we bought our first AC unit (air conditioner), I can’t begin to tell you what it has done for our family harmony, it’s enhanced my life. I have high blood pressure so I’m hot all of the time, did I mention all of the time? My hands and feet just burn so if you see me walking barefoot in the snow don’t be alarmed. This AC unit is worth every cent it cost, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am that we have one. We put it on and it saves us a lot of headaches and saves any arguments.

So, with that going and using my crockpot and microwave I’m winning the battle against heat, so far.

As always, be kind to one another and keep cool.
