Robb to host monthly senior’s group

-

Starting in September, local seniors can stay afoot of county events and happenings as well as socialize at the Robb Multiplex.

Yellowhead County’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) knows that information about available services and supports for seniors can be hard to find. That’s why FCSS sees value in putting seniors in touch with one another and community members who can offer information and education.

Starting September 12 and continuing monthly (on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:30 p.m.), seniors can meet at Robb’s Multiplex to learn about relevant programs and grants such Old Age Security, the Canada Pension Plan, Guaranteed Income Supplement, and Senior’s Financial Assistance.

New Special Needs Assistance Booklets are also available to explain existing senior’s benefits (reimbursement for medical trips, housekeeping, yard maintenance, etc.), as the senior’s benefit year (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019) has begun. Forms for all of these programs will be available during group meetups.

As well, Karen Schatz, FCSS Community Outreach Coordinator, will be present to answer questions and assist with application processes when necessary.

But it’s not all just forms and dry info—the monthly event is also a chance to socialize, share a cup of coffee, and jump into a card game or two! So come out and see if you’re eligible for any of these benefits, or just take share in some friendly company.
