Pembina Pipelines helps fund YCFD cadets

-

Yellowhead County Fire Department recently received $3,000 from Pembina Pipelines to fund new Fire Cadet programming.

YCFD is among the more than 50 fire departments across Canada and the U.S. receiving funding from Pembina Pipeline Corporation through their annual Fire Safety Grant. The funds will be used to source equipment for the YCFD’s newly developed Fire Cadets Program.

Pembina’s Fire Safety Grant helps ensure that local fire departments have the resources they need to respond effectively to emergencies. Grant funds can be used towards safety equipment, training or community education.

The Fire Cadet Program is a unique initiative meant to guide teens towards a prospective career in the field of protective services; but more importantly, the program aims to teach teens crucial life and career skills. The goal is to get local youth to value self-confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Moreover, as they progress through their training, cadets are eligible for a total of 9 credits towards their high school diploma.

Yellowhead County would like to extend a thank you to Pembina Pipelines for their grant contribution and support of the YCFD Fire Cadet Program. Pembina’s annual Fire Safety Grant opens every year in the spring, and provides funding to fire departments and emergency responders in communities near Pembina’s operations.
