Rocky Mountain House RCMP make arrests in break/enter and auto thefts

On August 8, 2018 around 1:30 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP were actively patrolling a known crime area in town, and located a stolen vehicle with two suspects inside. The vehicle made an attempt to ram the police vehicle then fled the scene. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance before terminating the pursuit due to public safety issues. Around 2:30 p.m., a citizen located the stolen car, which had crashed in a rural area southeast of Rocky Mountain House. The two suspects fled the scene on foot, with one of the suspects forcing entry into a residence armed with a knife. There was a verbal confrontation with the home owner, at which time the suspect departed, with the homeowner being unharmed. The same suspect ran to nearby rural property where he stole another vehicle, which the Police pursued. The suspect drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed through a field, then rolled. He was arrested and transported to Rocky Mountain House Hospital by Emergency Medical Services, where he was treated for minor injuries then released into Police custody. The second suspect was arrested later in the evening by Police without incident. Local residents of Clearwater County living in the area where the event occurred provided valuable information which assisted in apprehending the two suspects. The Rocky Mountain House RCMP wish to thank these vigilant and dedicated community members for their assistance.

Shayden Werner, 22, of Red Deer, Alberta, has been charged with:

• Assault with a Weapon

• Uttering Threats

• Break and Enter (several counts) • Possession of a Weapon for Purpose Dangerous to the Public Peace

• Theft of a Motor Vehicle

• Possession of Stolen Property • Dangerous Driving

• Breach of Recognizance (multiple) Werner will appear in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court on August 22, 2018.

Bradley Reurink, 22, of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, has been charged with: • Possession of Stolen property • Dangerous Driving
