Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP Drug Section execute warrant and dismantle chop shop

On August 24, 2018, RCMP members of the Stony Plain/ Spruce Grove Drug Section with the assistance of K Division Auto Theft Section and members of the Evansburg RCMP executed a search warrant at a rural residence in the area of Parkland County. The warrant and subsequent search was the result of an ongoing investigat­ion into rural property crime.

A male and female were found at the property and arrested without incident. As a result of the search, RCMP located 6 stolen dirt bikes that had been painted and given fraudulent Vehicle Identifica­tion Numbers (VINs), a stolen flat deck trailer which had been given a fraudulent VIN, 224 grams of methamphet­amine, printers, paper, stamps and other parapherna­lia associated to vehicle “chop shops.”

Dean BRENDEL, 28 years old from Fallis, Alberta, was charged with seven counts possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, seven counts of tampering with a VIN, five counts of fraudulent concealmen­t, possession of methamphet­amine for the purpose of traffickin­g and two counts of failing to comply with condition of undertakin­g or recognizan­ce.

Dean BRENDEL was remanded in to custody and is scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on August 29th, 2018.

Hope NIXON, 23 years old of no fixed, address, was charged with seven counts possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, seven counts of tampering with a VIN, five counts of fraudulent concealmen­t and possession of methamphet­amine for the purpose of traffickin­g.

Hope NIXON was released on her own recognizan­ce and was scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on August 29th, 2018.
