Surrey Interfaith Council organized a Peace Pilgrimage

In celebratio­n of World Interfaith Harmony Week, Surrey Interfaith Council organized a Peace Pilgrimage to many places of worship in Surrey, BC, including Surrey Jamea Masjid on Sunday, February 05, 2017. Due to a divine interventi­on (snowfall) , the pilgrimage was canceled. However, despite the loads of snow, the spiritual folks of Surrey Interfaith Council paid a kind visit to Surrey Jamea Masjid to show the sincerity in peace and harmony. Br. David Dalley, the Convenor of Surrey Interfaith Council delivered the messages of solidarity, written from the heart by the members of Peace Council, to the Imam of Surrey Jamea Masjid. Imam, Sheikh Abu Abdes Salaam welcomed the guest delegation. He provided an Islamic perspectiv­e on the situation, and elaborated on the Islamic way to express grief and honour the deceased. Sr. Ida Traxler gave the ladies a tour of the Masjid and imparted some practical knowledge on Islam.According to the Senior Imam, Qari Abdul Wahab Sahib, In the times of diffi- culty and crisis, Muslims follow the Way of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him); which is, to be patient, to repent and ask for forgivenes­s, to turn to Allah (S.W.T) for help, and to make Dua to ease or remove the burden and hardships. BCMA Surrey Jamea Masjid, Members of the local community, and Muslims of British Columbia thank each and every community member and partner for their love and unconditio­nal support after the tragic Quebec Shooting. It surely has brought us closer and renewed our collective faith in humanity. Br. Jafar of Al-Ameen newspaper announced that a blood donation drive is being planned to honour the innocent victims of Quebec Terror Attack. The members of the Interfaith Council observed the Asr (Afternoon) Prayer and then mingled in with the attendees of the congregati­on. The guest were served with ethnic delights. Hot Masala Tea prepared by Masjid Volunteers warmed all bodies and souls at the end of this auspicious ceremony.
