ISCC and MAT Strongly Condemn Terrorists Attacks on a Islamic Shrine in Pakistan

The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) and Muslims Against Terrorism (MAT) strongly condemn today’s terrorists attacks at the holy Shrine of a famous Sufi Saint, Hazrat Usman Marwandi - Lal Shahbaz Qalandar(RA) in the city of Sehwan, Sindh, Pakistan. In these terrorist attacks more than 75 people were killed and hundreds were wounded including women and children. “It is so sad that the Canadian and Western media reported the shrine of Hazrat Usman Marwandi - Lal Shahbaz Qalandar(RA) a Shia shrine which is attacked by Sunnis. This is far from the truth.”, said Imam Syed Soharwardy today. In fact, Hazrat Usman Marwandi - Lal Shahbaz Qalandar(RA) was a Sunni scholar and Saint of Islam. He was one of the disciples of famous founder of Soharwardy Sufi order Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Umar Soharwardy (RA). The shrine is visited by both Shia and Sunni Muslims. ISCC and MAT requests the media to report correctly and honestly. The attacks on both Sunni and Shia mosques and shrines are carried out by the extremists of Salafi/Wahabi/ Deobandi sects. It’s not the issue of Shia or Sunni. The culprits are neither Shia nor Sunni. They follow and practice the Saudi version of Islam’s interpretation called Wahabism which is widely supported and funded by the United States and other Western governments. Taliban, Al Qaedah, ISIS, Boko Haram, etc. all are the followers of the same sects. ISCC and MAT will be holding a Fateha service for the victims of Sehwan, Peshawar and Lahore attacks.
