August 8: Maryam Nawaz: Pakistan’s leader of the opposition arrested, Maryam Nawaz arrested while visiting her father, the jailed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. October 31: Pakistan Railways’ Tezgam passenger train caught fire while traveling from Karachi to Rawalpindi, resulting in at least 75 passenger deaths.
