Donald Leon Sutherland
NEW GLASGOW - Donald “Hon” Leon Sutherland, 69, New Glasgow, formerly of Rossfield and Springville, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Smith Irving and Mary Christena (MacLeod) Sutherland.
He worked at the Lismore Fish Plant, was a welder at the former Hawker Siddeley, Trenton, and was a ‘jack of all trades.’
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Florence (MacLeod); daughters, Julie (Howard) Naugle, Antigonish; Wanda Sutherland, New Glasgow; son, Brian, Stellarton; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Alana, Kasim, Skye, Katie, and Eric. Special family friends, Christopher Cameron and George and Dolly Rockey. He is also survived by his siblings, Reeta Sweeney, Enfield; Leon, Rossfield; and Billy, Broadway.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Reg Sweeney and favorite aunt Nelly Greene. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Pastor Ryan King officiating. Interment will be in Kenzieville Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Aberdeen Hospital, the Pictou County VON, and friends and family for their caring and support. Family flowers only.
