Kelly MacLeod leads the dragon as part of the opening ceremonies of the 15th annual Race on the River Dragon Boat Festival in New Glasgow on Friday night. Races begin today at 8:30 a.m., with the pink carnation ceremony following the last race of the day, around 3:20 p.m. Race on the River supports Women Alike Breast Cancer Survivors Society, Special Olympics Northern Regions and Pictou County Prostate Cancer Support Association, with the festival giving the opportunity to come together to compete on the water while raising funds, supporting those dealing with cancer and remembering those who have lost the battle.
