Serious Incident Response Team investigating arrest in Pictou Landing
Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after a Pictou Landing man was injured during an arrest.
The Pictou County District RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in Pictou Landing at 6:20 a.m. on Friday.
When police arrived, they observed a 22-year-old Pictou Landing male who had been stabbed. He was transported to hospital in New Glasgow with non life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, a 32-yearold Pictou Landing male was arrested and placed in police custody. During the arrest, a struggle ensued in which the man suffered an injury to his collarbone, police said in a press release.
He was transported to hospital for treatment and later returned to police custody.
The Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit and Pictou County District RCMP are still investigating the stabbing.
The RCMP issued a release Friday night, stating that they were referring the matter to SiRT.
“Given the matter is now being investigated by SiRT, the RCMP is unable to discuss further details about the arrest,” the release said.
