Cineplex event offering free, family-friendly movies

-

On Saturday movie-lovers in Pictou County and throughout Nova Scotia will have the opportunity to enjoy a morning of free movies at the New Glasgow Cineplex theatre.

The event is in support of Cineplex’s national charitable partner, WE, a movement that aims to bring people together and give them the tools to change the world. Cineplex Community Day treats guests to a selection of family-friendly movies with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting WE.

“As one of Canada’s largest employers of young people, we are inspired by youth who take a starring role in making a difference in the world around them,” said Ellis Jacob, president and chief executive officer of Cineplex Entertainment.

This year’s film line-up includes recently released popular films like The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, Zootopia, The Finest Hours and The Jungle Book. Movie-lovers in attendance can enjoy a morning of free movies and select concessions like popcorn, soft drinks and certain candy items priced at $2 each.

Theatres will also be selling ME to WE Cineplex ‘Change Bracelets’ for $2 each, which feature a motivational statement to inspire youth to create positive change. All proceeds from select concession and bracelet sales will benefit WE.

On the morning of Oct. 22, nearly all of Cineplex’s theatres across Nova Scotia will open their doors to guests, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., movies will begin between 9 and 10 a.m.
