NEW GLASGOW – Myrtle Audrey Huggan, 99, New Glasgow, formerly of Avondale, passed away peacefully, Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at home, surrounded by her family.

Born at The Ponds, she was a daughter of the late George William and Susan Matilda (Dempsey) Mason. Myrtle was an adherent of St. Paul’s Presbyteri­an Church, Merigomish, where in earlier years, she enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed playing the violin, accordion and piano. Myrtle loved her family dearly and cherished time spent together and looked forward to visits from grand-dog, Lacey.

Surviving are sons, Henry (Peggy), New Glasgow; Ken (Barb), Avondale; Clarence (Judy), Ottawa; grandchild­ren, Pat, Eddie, Audrey, George, Wendy, Graham, Julie and Melissa; numerous great-grandchild­ren; many nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Mervyn; sister, Evelyn Kennedy; brothers, Harvey, Henry, Orville, Douglas and Stanley; granddaugh­ter, Donna Huggan; great-grandson, James MacInnis. In honour of Myrtle’s wishes, the family will celebrate her life privately. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Myrtle’s memory to Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses.
