Anne (Murchison) Musick

-

MURRAY ROAD, Pictou County – Anne Christena Alexandria (Murchison) Musick, 75, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, in hospital in Halifax.

Born in Point Prim, Prince Edward Island, on Aug. 14, 1941, Anne was the daughter of the late Hector and Phemie (Panton) Murchison of Point Prim, PEI.

Anne and her husband Edwin raised their three boys, Paul, Jamie and Alan on the Murray Road, Pictou County, where the door to their home was always open to friends and family. She was a registered licensed practical nurse who loved her work at the Children’s Home in Pictou. After its closure she was employed with the Victorian Order of Nurses in the Tatamagouche area until her retirement in 1997.

Anne’s pride and joy was her family. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart. Their visits would involve conversations at the kitchen table, tea parties and baking cookies. Every visit started with a smile and ended with a big hug from Nanny. She will always be remembered as an independent, strong woman who put family first above everything else. Her ties to Prince Edward Island remained strong throughout the years with many summers spent at her family home in Point Prim visiting with cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Anne was an only child but was blessed to have Edwin’s family become her own. She will always be considered a sister to Rollie, Lila, Evelyn, Linda, Brenda and Marlene. She was also blessed to have close friends visit regularly for their Wednesday night coffee chats and neighbors who became part of their extended family.

Anne is survived by her husband, Edwin, as well as her three sons, Paul (Sueann), Jamie (Dawn) and Alan (Gina). She had six grandchildren: Haley, John, Charlotte, Kaylen, Taryn and Hannah.

As in life, Anne liked to keep things simple. Her last wishes were to be surrounded by family and close friends as we say our final goodbye. A visitation will be held at McLaren Funeral Home in Pictou on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a family service. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in Anne’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

At Anne’s request, her family will visit Point Prim this August to spread her ashes near her homestead which will be followed by a reception for family and friends. Details will follow at a later date.
