Our Lady of Lourdes CWL meeting

President Bernadette Kellock welcomed nineteen members and Father Barrett to the February meeting of Our Lady of Lourdes CWL.

The meeting opened with the League Prayer followed by a spiritual presentati­on on prayer and the Blessed Sacrament by Marie Benjamin.

Secretary Paula Cassidy read the correspond­ence which included thank you notes from Tearman House, the Food Bank, and for funeral receptions.

Several members prepared a ham dinner for clients at Shepherds Lunch Room recently.

Commitment­s this month include donations to Save the Family Plan, Mass for Shut- Ins and Seminarian­s A donation was also given to the Confirmati­on class for The Longest Night of the Year walk.

Lourdes council is hosting The World Day of Prayer on March 3 and providing lunch for the Pictou County Council of Churches on March 7.

Cathy Murphy reported that seventeen people have volunteere­d to help provide lunch for funeral receptions.

Another person is needed to head a funeral reception team.

Members were urged to write to Global Television Network and voice their opinion on the new series Mary Kills People that is very disturbing as it dramatizes and sensationa­lizes euthanasia.

Discussion­s were held on purchasing a new fridge and blinds for the hall.

The next meeting will be held on March 6. New members are most welcome. Submitted
