Ruth Shirley Livingstone Mar. 31, 1930 - Feb. 24, 2017

- We loved you Mom, Nan, Great Granny, you’re forever in our hearts. God blessed you, and we were blessed to have you. You are free now.

Ruth was born in Kentville, NS to Jack (Tiger) and Grace Smith (Turner). She came to New Glasgow at a young age, devoting herself to her family and her Christian faith.

She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Gordon and Terry Smith.

She is survived by children Nola, ON, John (Karen), BC, Travis ( Maxx), AB, Kirk, NS, and sister Gaylle (Allen) McRae, BC, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many friends and relatives.

Although bound by her infirm body later in life, she was always a dreamer, an optimist, and always found the good in everyone she met. Bound no longer, she is free to soar amongst the Eagles in the heavens above.

Grandson Dave, thank you so much for being there for Nan, and sitting with her in her final hours, for all your visits, bringing the boys to see her, as she loved seeing them, and for always taking in her (sweet supplies) as anyone who knew her was aware of how much she loved her sweets.

Thank you Stan Allan, family, and church members for being lifelong friends to Mom and sharing their Christian faith with her.

Thank you nurses and staff of Glen Haven who treated her with respect and dignity and made Mom’s life so much better.

Thank you doctors, nurses, and Aberdeen Hospital staff, for caring for Mom in her final hours.

Cremation has taken place, no visitation. A service is to be held at a later date.
