It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James F. MacLeod of Hopewell on March 14, 2017.

Jim was born in New Glasgow on Sept. 12, 1953, the son of the late Stanley and Naida MacLeod.

He is survived by his two beloved sons, Nicholas (Morgan), Airdrie, Alberta; Mitchell, Calgary; two grandsons, Cale and Ty.

He leaves behind his brother, Steven (Judy), and sisters, Nancy (Rick Goodman), New Glasgow; and Susan (Graham Pate), Vancouver.

Jim retired in 2004 after a long career at MT&T. He spent many enjoyable hours in his retirement fly fishing, golfing, gardening and helping out at the local garage. He was blessed with many incredibly good and loyal friends. Jim was close to his parents and siblings and frequently called to check in and chat. His calls will be missed. Jim’s pride was his two sons.

He was always so proud of what they had accomplished and was keenly interested in what they were doing in their lives. When the boys were younger, he was always their biggest fan attending all of their hockey games.

A celebration of life will be held at the H .W. Angus Funeral home in New Glasgow from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Family flowers only please.

Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Pictou County Rivers Association of to a charity of one’s choice.
