Elizabeth Owen Swinamer of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of East River Manor and Island East River, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in her 104th year in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.

Born in Deerfield, N.S. on June 26, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Vickery) Harding.

Elizabeth was a long-time resident of Island East River. She was a member of the former Zion Presbyteri­an Church, Eureka and after it closed joined the former Wesley United Church in Eureka.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by daughter Anne Avery (Simeon MacKenzie), Trenton; son Ross, Halifax; grandchild­ren Darryl (Ginny) MacArthur, Island East River; Allen (Lerma) Swinamer, Winnipeg; Wayne (Crystal) Swinamer, Moose Jaw, Sask.; 7 great-grandchild­ren and 4 greatgreat-grandchild­ren. She was predecease­d by her husband Walter, sisters Phyllis Wells and Mary Wheeler; brothers Richard and Frank; grandson Ronnie Swinamer; daughter-in-law Catherine Swinamer and son-in-law Joe Avery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow. A public graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Sunny Brae Cemetery with Sister Mary McMahon presiding. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Sister Mary and the nurses and staff at Glen Haven Manor for their excellent care. The family would also like to thank the staff of Glen Haven Manor for care and friendship given to them when visiting their mother.
