It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Marie MacKenzie (MacGilliva­ry), of Westville, announce her passing on May 27, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born in Mount Thom, Pictou County on May 5, 1922. She was the daughter of Mary Margaret Benvie (Cameron) and Colin MacGilliva­ry.

Jean was a member of St. Paul United Church in Westville, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 35 and LOBA Orange Lodge.

First and foremost, Mom was a loving wife and Mother. She devoted her life to making a comfortabl­e and loving home for her family. Her pride and joy were her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. She touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by those she loved.

Jean is survived by daughters Sheila MacMillian (Mike), New Glasgow, Isabel Bonaparte (Louis), Sydney, Beverly Chennell (Gordon), Westville, son-in-law Doug MacLeod, Abercrombi­e, daughter-in-law Helen MacKenzie, Sundridge, 12 grandchild­ren, 23 great grandchild­ren, and 5 great great grandchild­ren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Joyce MacDonald, Green Hill.

She is predecease­d by her husband Clarence MacKenzie, sister Dorothy Smith (Dot), daughter Marilyn MacLeod, son Gordon MacKenzie and son-in-law Michael MacMillian.

Mrs. MacKenzie is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday, May 31 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, June 1 at St. Paul United Church, Westville at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiatin­g. Burial will be at Millbrook Cemetery, Millbrook. Family Flowers only, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, or 5th floor South, Aberdeen Hospital.

Our family would like to express their sincere appreciati­on to the doctors and all the staff of the 5th Floor South for the profession­alism, kindness and compassion that was extended not only to our Mom but to our entire family.
