Need good vibes and lots of prayers

- Kathy Golemiec Kathy Golemiec is undergoing cancer treatments and writes about her experiences each week.

Happy summer, did it finally almost get here? How was your week? Mine wasn’t too bad, wasn’t too great either but I made it through.

I went to the hospital to get my blood work done, for the following day’s chemo and I could just make it to the elevator. The doctor thought I might have a blood clot in my calf so down I went for an ultrasound, only this time I went in a wheelchair – if not they would have been waiting for me forever.

After the results came back upstairs I was clot free, woohoo, but I did have to get a cortisone shot in my hip. Did I ever tell you I hate needles? Well I totally hate any kind of needle – a needle comes with the saying it’s only a little pinch. Ha, a little pinch to their pushing finger maybe, but not going through my skin. But I do have to admit it does take the pain away. And my doctor is good at giving needles – I better stick that in there in case my doctor reads this, then the next needle might really hurt, ha.

I went to the hospital to get my chemo and I also got the bone filler medicine. They are both put in through my port-acath in my chest, so the needles don’t hurt much, that really is a small pinch. They were going to stop my bone medicine but my cancer doctor decided to give me the bone medicine with every second chemo.

When I got home I decided to water my garden with the hose, which I haven’t used this year, so I have to attach it to my sink then put it through the door. Well, who would think that the water spout would be on? I went out and picked it up and got hosed down and boy was it cold, I got so wet I had to go in and change.

Today is my sister-in-law’s birthday – happy birthday Sheri, have a great day.

I have to see the heart specialists next week. I sure hope I can stop the heart pills.

My toe is almost better. I’m down to a bandage and it’s healing very well. Now I have to get the other foot done.

I have been down in the dumps for a week or so but now with the nice weather here I should be feeling better.

I have been sleeping so much my body feels like I can’t move or eat, just enough to get something in me to say I had something to eat. Weight-wise – oops, 140 again. But I’m still at 140 so it’s still a woohoo.

Thank you for all the cards and letters, they brighten my day.

My fingers are so numb the feeling never stops and it’s so irritating. But the chemo is worth it. My bladder is still acting up and the pills I need are ready at the drug store but I have to wait for the medicare to get a letter from my doctor before they give the OK to pay for them. This is the second time a letter had to be sent in. I sure hope they approve it soon, it’s hard being poor.

I hope the doctor doesn’t have to send a letter every three months. It seems like the pills just start to work and then I’m put on hold.

Well I’ve been feeling sick all week, so I will write you more next week.

But for this week, take care of yourself and have a great week. Keep your fingers crossed that I get better soon. Even better I need some good vibes and lots of prayers.

Have a good week folks… and be sure to take a good look at all the beautiful trees and flowers that Mother Nature gives us.
