New Glasgow Academy students recognized for extracurricular activities
New Glasgow Academy presented its non-academic awards Wednesday.
Taylor Long was named Female Athlete of the Year. She had two outstanding years participating in golf, volleyball, hockey, softball, track and field and cross country, and was MVP for golf, cross country, and track and field, as well as NSSAF female athlete.
The Male Athlete of the Year was Ryan Green, who played soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and softball.
Xander Vohs received the Mark Arbuckle Dedication to Panther Athletics Award, given to an individual who has gone over and above in the Panther community to support athletics at NGA. Vohs was described as a major contributor, as a member of hockey, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and track and field teams during his middle school years. He also coached younger students during the Primary to Grade 3 soccer and baseball programs.
NSSAF Good Sport Awards,
recognizing student-athletes who “best demonstrate commitment to fair play, ethical behaviour and integrity and who show respect and concern for others while participating in school sport,” were given to Landon McGibbon and Maya Goldchtaub.
