Pictou County dancers take part in competitions
The last two Highland dance competitions of the summer were held over the last two weekends and several Pictou County dancers took part.
The 153rd Prince Edward Island Highland Games held their Highland Dance Competition on Aug. 5 in Eldon, P.E.I. Lindsay Perreault of Ontario was the judge.
Intermediate 10 & Under – Penelope Brown: Fling 4th, Seann Triubhas 5th, Choreography Solos and Duets All Ages 6th.
Premier 10 & 11 – Amelia Parker: Fling 2nd, Seann Triubhas 3rd, Flora 4th, Lilt 5th.
Premier 16 & Over – Allyson Parker: Fling 5th, Seann Triubhas 5th, Flora 4th, Lilt 6th.
The Pugwash Gathering of the Clans Highland Dance Competition was held on Aug. 12. The judges were Jane Dunnet and Debby Stevenson.
Beginner 7 & Under – Hannah Fleury: Fling 7th.
Intermediate 7 & Under 10 – Penelope Brown: Fling 3rd, Seann Triubhas 4th, Barracks 4th.
Intermediate 10 & Under 13 – Alyssa Ells: Fling 2nd, Seann Triubhas 1st, Laddie 1st, Barracks 4th. High aggregate trophy winner.
Premier 11 & Under 13 – Annika Murray: Blue Bonnets 1st, Flora 1st, Village Maid 1st, Lilt 1st. High aggregate trophy winner and winner of the Bonnie Gael Huston Memorial trophy.
Premier 13 & Under 16 – Sidney Baillie: Fllora 3rd, Lilt 4th; Ainslie Salter: Blue Bonnets 3rd, Flora 4th, Village Maid 1st, Lilt 5th.
Premier 16 & Over – Madison Baillie: Flora 4th, Village Maid 4th, Lilt 4th; Beth McNeill: Blue Bonnets 3rd, Flora 5th, Village Maid 3rd.
